At the range today, I was testing the consequences of using different manf type brass in my 223.
I must have had 10-15 different headstamped brass, ppu, speer, various vintage lc, wcc, fed, etc.
My thought is that if you aren't looking for that extra 1/4" accuracy, the different types of 223 brass
shouldn't make that much difference. Here are the results:
@ 200 yards
6 shots per target ( http://www.outdoorbunker.com/Birchwood- ... 12-%29.htm )
Sierra 69gr HPBT Match
24.7g of Varget
OAL = 2.255"
RRA NM rifle
Bench rest w/ 3x9 Bushnell cheapo Scope (I could never get a clean focus?)

The black reticule seemed to disappear in the black bullseye, making it very difficult to see.The little bit of spread could be more attributed to lack of focus through the scope than anything else.
My goal was to see if the different manf's of brass would make significant difference. There
seems to be 1/2 grain window (24.5-25.0g) where the rounds group consistently.
The difference in the case volumes are most likey not that much?
At 200 yards, I agree, it isn't bad.
Thanks,
Haka
