Were these scores attained with the M-41 you were having bolt issues with? Did you ever contact Smith about your slide and bolt?

yes this is the same M41, I put it back to gather with new bolt and new pin from Gil Hebard and it was not much better than with old bolt, I called S&W but the guy I talked to did not know as much as i did and he said he did not know if it should be tight or not, and he would just put it back gather and shoot it. i have a friend with a mill and I think i will have him cut a step in top of bolt so i can lay a L shaped shim in ther to take up slack so it does not hammer pin, I think it has lose from the time it was new. I will need to buy a new slide when i get rich!

If you still have both bolts, mill the old one for a shim and keep the new one at factory specs until you have a chance to pick up another slide. After you shoot it for a while you may decide the modified bolt is all you need and keep the other as a spare.
