I have had my Rem 1100 for about 4 months now, and I just shot it for the first time this saturday.
I have never shot a shotgun before, and it shows. I think I hit 1 out of 4 clays. I have a "one-step" thrower,
which does a nice job of pitching them out there. Ole hakaman needs some practice ! I like the shotgun, though.

25% is pretty good for some one starting out. I remember a guy I use to work with went with us on a bird hunt. He only had 1 bird in 50. His biggest complaint was the birds do not fly straight.
The 1100 will serve you for many many years.

clays
My first time shooting 16 yard trap, hit ONE of 25 clays. I was, though, hooked. Now I manage the occasional 25 straight. The "big guys" will shoot 99-100 straight (or better).
I managed 92/100 the other day....those eight lost targets are the hardest to add to one's average.
