I am getting really jealous of the guys over at rimfire central and their colored accessories. Does anyone know good anodizers? I am wanting to anodize some parts and don't know where to start. Can anything be anodized? I want to do some triggers, and possibly some MKIII mag disconnects and slide releases. (I know, probably too "pimped") Anyways, I thought that I would ask.

Google 'anodizing kits' for some sources...
I have no experience with Real-anodizing,
just lab-experiments that never work very well...
usually due to poor surface prep/cleaning
and rushing... good coatings seem to come with
low currents and time...

Well you can anodize aluminum and a few other metals like magnesium, titanium and the like. There is some good references for home anodizing and they even have a forum set up by a company that sells materials and equipment for the process. Coloring is done with some basic dyes and a few special procedures. Rather than regurgitate what is already available try reading some of the questions at the link. I saw some pictures there from someone called "rclint". He had some 10/22 parts that were color anodized.

Waaay back during the mini-ice-age, when I was in college...
I got a cassette player for my car-music... being concerned about
"theft", I removed the glove-'box' behind the door and dad made a
pair of "brackets" to mount the player securely behind the access door...
I left my car one week at the home-town-shop for some work...
and when I came back to trade-back cars... my "bracket" had
been 'foiled' (ie. colored tin-foil glued onto a surface... a "home-craft"
that mom was 'into' at the time...) ... it looked fine, just a bit out-of-place
to have the custom-job done...) ...
anyway... dad used to say that he dare-not fall asleep in his recliner
or he'd wake up "FOILED"...

Lord! That brings some old memories flooding back. I still have several books that were 'foiled' somewhere out in the garage.

Man, I'd forgotten all about that. Are we showing our age here or what? Oh well, I always say every old person has a young person inside wondering what happened!
