Marlin MOD 60 Disassembly
Bullseye, do you have anything for the total disassembly/reassembly with pics and descriptions like I have seen you post for the Mark II/III???
I sure could use it ! !
Thanks for any help,

No, but I have this page link for the model 60. It is not mine.

Thanks, Bullseye. Yeah, I already have that info. What I need is to take the firing mechanism apart from that point without totally destroying it. There should be a general procedure for the steps to take (like one step before doing something else, but I really wouldn't know where to begin).

the "trigger assembly" cannot be taken apart and re-assembledMTGUNNER wrote:firing mechanism apart
the first time... you have to wait until you get some experience, first.
I've never needed to dis-assemble any of mine, BUT...
several of the little C-clips (or E-clips, if you prefer) are on ONE SIDE.
They ALL must be removed and then that side-plate comes off,
exposing ALL of the "stuff" to fall/spring forth and roll under tables
and chairs, to be found by the vacuum in a few days/weeks...
If you have a specific "need", that may be addressed differently...
but general instructions have never crossed my path.
If you insist, the 'marlin' forum on RimFireCentral.com
is pretty active with some folks that may be able/willing to
respond... but I've not seen such in the last couple years of
participating with that forum...
Such 'tinkering' is usually left to the RimFire/Ruger MKx & 10/22
and CenterFire:1911 and Savage-Bolt-Actions and AR-semi-autos.
Hint: it may be "easier", if you have a second-60 available to
observe how things went together... $60-75 for a PawnShop-60
or there are likely two or three of them, within a block radius of you.
Good Luck.
I have taken them down to pieces but I didn't make a "How-to" page. There's not a lot of aftermarket interest in the Model 60 and very few parts available. When I bought mine it was just $34 at K-Mart.
The Model 60 is a remarkably accurate rifle for it's low cost. I don't think many folks modify the rifle much and just leave it as a plinker.
These take-down prints from Numerich may help too.

Boy I wish. I live in Montana. The nearest pawn shop is only about 8 miles away, and that is where they have the beaters for $100. The nearest WallyWorld is 50 miles away one way

had any luck "messin with it" ?
Did Actually
Actually I did. I got ahold of Arrowdodger from RimfireCentral and he had made some mods to his Model 60.
Put a new spring for the trigger return, a screw for pre-travel. Then in the hammer assembly, put a new (read lighter) spring for the hammer assembly. I was on the phone with him last night and he talked me through totally disassembling the firing mechanism.
After I get it cleaned up and put back together, I will probably do a picture step-by-step so it can be posted here on taking it apart. Once you do it, it's not really too bad.

others may have already noticed...
Marlin now has OnLine-UserGuides (.pdf) for their current rifles.
http://www.MarlinFireArms.com/
find your rifle and at the bottom of the "specs/info"
is a link to the manual...

Thanks for the link, Toy.
I took one completely apart and didn't find the schematics all that helpful since they don't have the "fit lines." Had a fun-filled evening trying to get them back together. Have some not-so-good pictures of the process. If you have any questions, I might be able to help. There is nothing particularly hard about taking the action apart and putting it back together, it's just not obvious for someone like me.
