My New Twins

Post by KAZ » Sun Aug 10, 2008 2:15 pm

Well, we had a Gun Show in our small town this weekend and I went to check things out. First impression was that prices are high, and one could do better on the auctions. I ran into a guy walking around with a nice 7" with comp(no box, paper) that he was firm on at $850. As I was on my way out there was a table by itself by the consessions, and there was a 5 1/2" A598*** no box, but in good condition from a non dealer that I had bought from before. I've been wanting a 5" and we worked a trade of an extra P3AT and some cash for him, and I have a new to me "A" prefix 41 8) Regards

Looks very nice. I hope you don't mind - I added in your other M-41 picture to your post because you mentioned twins but only one picture appeared. I hope you got a good deal with the trade and all. From overall appearance it looks to be in very good shape. I prefer the 5.5" bull barrel feel better than the 7".

See, you can find some good deals at gun shows if your patient enough.

Congrats on you find/trade - Nice pistol. Gotta love running up on something you are looking for at at gun show.

"Nice Pair"... (I usually don't say that to a 'guy'... )
from the photos, it appears you now have one to shoot each direction.

Welcome to GunTalk-OnLine...
have fun, I hope the new addition is up to your expectations.. -- toy

OpsMgr, you are one of my favorite posters from another forum, glad to find you here! I was lucky, this is a small show and I was used to finding no 41s even at the big Metroplex shows.
Thanks toyfj40, I can hardly wait until I get some range time early next week.
Bullseye, I appreciate your adding my other pic so that the twins thing made sense. Regards

Thanks Kaz. Like toyfj40 posted - Nice pair.

I go to most of the gun shows in my area looking for items on my "List". Never know what you might find. Have to know the particulars about what you are looking for and be prepared to walk away if the price is too high.

Let us know how your new "Twin" shoots.

Well, I made it out to the range with my 5 1'2" 41 today. I had given it a good cleaning followed by a lube with Eezox. I took Remington Target,Federal Auto Match, and of course CCI SV. My surprise was that it seemed to prefer the Rem Target with it being the most accurate. I fired 150 Rd's total of all brands with absolutely zero problems of any kind. What a pleasure to shoot. I was surprised that it is noticeably heavier than my 7", but the extra weight made it rock solid. Regards

The bull barrel and the optical sight adds a little extra "heft" to the pistol but they do shoot very well. Congrats.

Twins?

Post by U-turnwilly » Fri Aug 15, 2008 5:31 pm

I think Kaz has really got it bad! Way to go.

I think I'll just look for a good barrel - my marriage might not survive another gun at this point in time.

Not quite as bad as it seems Bill, I took a hard look in my safe and sold off some that I've lost interest in shooting to fund this new passion. I've just returned from the range where I made certain to shoot both 41s so that there is no jealousy. Regards

Swapping barrels is a good option for those M-41 owners who just cannot decide on one configuration for their pistol. The conversion is very easy with just a quick tug on the trigger guard.

That is yet another one of the appealing attributes of the M41, IMO...

twins

Post by U-turnwilly » Sat Aug 16, 2008 6:38 pm

Kaz,
Let's face it - we all have "it" bad or we wouldn't be here reading this.

Ain't it grand!

My wife has given me grief too often about trading - she thinks I should keep 'em....if I wanted it enough to buy it I should just keep it.

But I still think I'm gonna switch barrels - I really do want to put a dot on one.

I'm also looking for something to put on my Stoeger Pro Series 95 as well.

Enjoy the Twins and have fun.

Bill
