I have a Stoeger Industries 22 target pistol. It is almost a duplicate of the High Standard Tropy Victor. cal. 22 lr
The model is listed as "Pro Series 95" on the left side of the slide.
On the right side of the frame, just above the trigger is the sn R12xx and directly over that it reads "Aimco Inc." Huston Texas.
The slab side 5-1/2" barrel carries a vented sight rail with what apears to be a Millet rear sight.
It is polished stainless on the sides of the frame & barrel. Top & bottom of the barrel are bead blasted. Trigger, safety, slide stop and mag release appear to be gold anodized aluminum and the wrap around grips are Pachmyer. It uses High Standard magazines.
Field stripping are per High Standard and it is almost a dead match for the High Standard parts schematic on Brownell's web site
Can anyone shed any light on the origins / history of this gun?
Thanks in advance,
Bill - AKA U-turnwilly

Your pistol probably looks a lot like this one.

It was made in Houston Texas by Mitchell Arms/Stoeger. The Pro Series 95 was a target grade pistol made on the old HS Victor specifications, so much so that when the original High Standard Co restarted production in 1994, they sued Mitchell/Stoeger for patent infringements and the clones ceased production.
There is little to no parts support for the M/S High Standard pistols.
I've shot a lot of High Standard Victor and Citation pistols back when I was on the service team. The biggest drawback in my book was their temperamental magazines The mags were always having feeding issues from the worn and often sensitive feed lips.
I haven't worked on very many of the High Standards, and only one Mitchell Citation. The Mitchell Citation that I worked on had lots of quality control issues. It's owner was very frustrated with it to the point of selling it. On the flip side the Pro Series 95 has fairly high marks as a reproduction target pistol.
Hope this helps.

Stoeger Pro Series 95
Yep, that would be it.
I have had this for about 8 years and it has been a good shooter.
Managed to loose a tiny return spring while cleaning it once and the smith used a High Standard spring.
The magazine that came with it was fine but the three that I picked up over the years needed to be tweaked.
Like most of my guns, I have not reached the accuracy potential of this one. Off the bench it it groups +/- 2" & 25 yds. in the hands of a good shot.

new barrel
Any thoughts on using aftermarket H/S barrels? Will they fit?
Thanks
Bill
Thanks
Bill
I don't see very many of these anymore but the new barrels should fit, especially when you consider the Stoeger/Mitchell pistols were exact copies of the original HS specifications. That is why S/M lost the lawsuit, they used the specs of the original HS pistols and violated the patents. You'd just have to try it out with a new barrel.
