Why do people remove the magazine safety on MK III?
I just installed an VQ extractor, trigger, and sear. Wondering if I should remove the mag safety also.

Removing the Mark III mag safety is just as a matter of personal preference. It's a passive safety device and doesn't effect trigger pull. What it does effect is maintenance. Having a magazine safety adds a few steps to the tear down and reassembly of these pistols because you must have a mag installed to move the trigger. Plus with the Ruger 22 auto's infamous hammer strut, the hammer must be fully forward in order to field strip the pistol. I think if your comfortable with the safety then leave it alone.

If you are a very politically incorrect type it has to go. As Bullseye said... But for me having been raised to "remove the mag, clear the chamber and verify weapon is *SAFE* before starting any work" I just don't like to have a magazine reinstalled to pull the trigger to begin a field strip. But I also despise all factory installed warning labels and safety devices to protect the operator from injury...
