VQ accurizing kit

This is going to sound odd but here it goes. I just installed a VQ accurizing kit in my MKII. I used everything in the kit except the trigger. I liked the Ruger trigger that was drilled and tapped to make it adjustable better. On my scale the trigger now breakes at somewhere between 1 lb - 12 oz and 2lbs -0.3 oz. I would like it to break at 2lbs - 0.1 oz to maybe 2 lbs - 4 oz. How do I add a few onces to the trigger pull weight? As it is I don't think it will pass the test at a match.

Try replacing the VQ trigger plunger/spring with the factory spring/plunger. That might add a few ounces. If that doesn't add the need weight I think Wolf makes a spring to the specs of the trigger plunger spring. You could just cut the Wolf spring to have a couple more twists than the factory spring.

Please keep us posted on whatever you find to work. I may have a similar issue when I finally get to weigh my new VQ kit install as well.

I'll try the factory trigger return spring Sunday and see if that does it.
Tried Trigger return spring

Okay I had a chance to look at things this morning. I took the pistol apart and looked at the two springs. I had a few from past projects laying around. It turned out that the springs that came with the kit had the thickest wire so I used them. The trigger return spring I stretched just a bit to see if that would add a couple of ounces. This appeared to have no measureable effect. (This was expected because the spring is pre compressed in the system.) While I had things appart I decided to polish the face of the sear (it was a bit ruff when I got it) and the face of the hammer that the bolt rides against to smooth the operation. This also did not change the trigger pull any measureable amount. ( it feels very smooth now ) So I cleaned the sear face and hammer knotch with denatured alchol. This increased the trigger pull buy just enough that the gage consistanty read 2lbs plus a tiny bit if I was very careful pulling the gage. So I figured I would leave well enough alone. I know I can past a trigger pull test as long as I clean and dry the sear and hammer notch before the match.
Unless anyone knows for sure what to do? From my inspection it apears that changeing the sear angle so it has to lift the hammer spring a bit like the original would do it, .... or maybe just a heavier hammer spring, ...or... heavier sear and trigger springs. Does anyone know for sure?
I could not leave it alone

Okay so I'm the type that just can't give up until I get it to work.
So I took it apart again. Here is what I did.
Bent Sear spring to give it more power. (Instead of the two legs being 180 dergees apart they were 140 degrees after I bent it.)
Stretched the trigger return spring out a bit. (made it just a bit longer than it was originaly)
Made 2 shims out of a 22lr case to put under the Trigger return spring. I made them square so the corners had to bend a bit to go down the hole. I then used a punch to makesure they were both seated at the bottom of the hole.
I reassembled with M1 grease in all the pivot holes.
Lubed everything else with plain gun oil. (actualy I use 5w20 motor oil with a touch of Ed's Red bore cleaner to thin it just a bit because I'm cheap)
Well geuss what. The trigger pull gage reads between 1lb-15oz to 2lbs-5oz with a 2lbs-2oz average. I dry fired it 100 times and it seems to be staying the same. That should be good enough to pass the three pulls to make the 2 pound minimum for competition.
So now I have the 2lbs plus a bit I wanted. With the bent springs I have about 1lbs-13oz first stage followed by a few ounces more to make it break. There is more creep than I like but it is as good as I can get it. I guess I'm happy for now.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Glad you got it where you want it. Though pulling a spring to give it more power is usually only temporary, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the pull go up an ounce or so.
By the way, good idea using those .22 cartridges!

Sorry but I'm unable to visualize what you did, but interested. Can you post some pictures?
