Purchased a new Kimber 22cal conversion kit today and I find that the
included magazine will not lock in the frame thus causing feeding problems. The kit was supposed to include a modified slide stop but it wasn't in the packaging. Any opinions as to whether the slide stop can cause the mag problem would be appreciated.

The kit does not come with a slide stop. The instructions may say that one is included but you use the one from your 1911 pistol.
Is the .22 magazine base too tall to allow the magazine enough clearance to insert far enough to lock into the magazine latch?

You may have to remove a little of the plastic material off of the top edges of the bottom block to get the mag to seat in the frame fully.
Hope this helps.

Filed the magazine base so that it now locks in the frame and went to the range to see if the feeding problem has been resolved. Ran about 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mag with only a few failure to feed problems. A huge improvement over yesterday and hope this will improve with time. Again, many thanks for your advice.
