I am shooting a ruger mark III with a Valquartson Trigger.. Been shooting CCI standard velocity..Just bought the Federal from Walmart. They are the Value pack, High velocity ,36 grain, hollow point. 550 round for around 10.00. Will these hurt the ruger since it has the Volquartson trigger. I was told not to shoot them that they were too hot since I have the new trigger. They are a lot cheaper and have read where some guys like them.. Just need to know about harming the gun. thanks.. I've never heard of the Federal Val. Pack being to "hot" for this pistol, regardless of the trigger that is in it. I have three of the VQ triggers, and use the Federal all of the time without problems. Do you know if your pistol has aftermarket springs in it? The only way that I could see using high velocity ammo as a problem would be if you had reduced power mainspring and reduced power recoil springs in your pistol. Just my opinion though.

I use the Federal Bulk high velocity all the time without any difficulties. I have all the internals tuned pretty fine, more than just the drop in kit. Unless you have a reduced power recoil spring, which means either replacing the whole recoil rod assembly or cutting coils off of the spring, then you won't have any problems with that brand of ammo. Shooting ultra high velocity ammo like Velocitors is not advisable since these will cause the bolt to batter on the bolt stop pin.

thanks, all we did was install the complete trigger kit with all the components that came with it.. i guess you understand what I mean? i will give them a try ,as I am buying ammo for me and my son which we are shooting a lot........

I am not trying to be a smart a## on this just curious. What would a trigger have to do with any load you put in a weapon ?? I can see about any other component in the weapon reacting to a lot of power.

Only changing a trigger wouldn't have any effect on performance based on ammo power. However some folks say they replaced the trigger when what they really meant was they installed a VQ kit that has several other dynamic parts included (like a hammer and sear) that could be affected by the relative charge in the cartridge. Usually these kits are engineered to stand up to higher powered HV ammo but every once and a while a drop in kit doesn't work very well. Plus not to long ago, VQ changed the way they made their sears and these new sears had lots of performance problems.

So what is the bennefit of this trigger.

The benefit of the actual trigger is the ability to adjust pre-travel and over-travel out of the trigger, giving a very "crisp" feeling trigger.
