I like the way the compensator looks on the Mark III, but I was wondering if I actually needed one?? I'm not into rapid firing, dang, you can't even do it at the range anyway.

I like a suppressor even better though. What's the deal with those? I was reading the gun laws in Georgia (where I live) and about the only thing I saw was that they're not allowed. (apparently)

Is that normally the case? Or do you need a special license or something. I looked at one of the websites that sell them, but didn't see much about it.

I just like the idea of a suppressor, they're just so cool, and sound so cool.

I can't wait to get a trigger kit for it.

You have to apply for a Class III NFA License for ownership of a suppressor. There is a $200 one time transfer fee (tax) for each suppressor and must be paid prior to purchase at submission of BATFE paperwork. You will need a completed and signed “Form 4” (5320.4), a “922 Compliance” form ( F 5330.20), 2 sets of fingerprints, 2 passport photos and payment of the appropriate “Transfer Fee” prior to purchasing the suppressor. This process can take up to six months to complete the transaction.

Wow, that's a lot to go through for a suppressor. I'll probably pass on it.

What about a compensator?? Would that do me any good for just average shooting?? Looks cool though.

I personally don't see a need for a compensator on a .22 pistol. The VQ compensator adds weight to the end of the barrel and that helps dampen the recoil. I've shot them on all lengths of barrels and really don't see enough of an improvement to justify the cost of one of these but your opinion may be different than mine. Compensators are not restricted like supressors are, they do not require any permits. They do add a certain look to a barrel but that has a trade off when cleaning time comes around.

Yeah, I didn't think it would do me any good. Looks cool, but no function really, not at the rate I'm shooting at.

Just wanted to make sure that during that instant it's coming out of the barrel, it wouldn't have bought me just a little bit, because I need all I can get.
