Clark bushing install

Post by Jolly Rogers » Wed Jul 04, 2007 3:25 pm

Happy 4th everyone!
Bullseye thank you for the tutorials on the Ruger Mark series handguns. They have given me the confidence to upgrade my Mk 111 22/45 with the slingshot bolt drop and the mag safety removal via the Clark hammer bushing installation. The slide release needed to be deburred to remove any drag and allow 100% reliability to slingshot the bolt. The Clark bushing needed to be stroked on a stone (reducing the o.d.)to allow the bushing to seat onto the MK111 hammer. I did install a spacer to fill the machined step on the hammer as the bushing looked to lack enough overlap on the ledge in my eyes. I don't feel the need to lighten the trigger pull as luckily it is the same weight as my Springfield 1911A1. Now the functions of the Ruger match the 1911 perfectly!
I would like to upgrade the grips to removable 1911 type someday :D
Again a special thanks to you Bullseye!JR

Good Job! Yes, adding the oversized bushing can require a little stoning but not for all hammers, there are some tolerance differences between the production hammers that allow for bushing seating with just a mallet. Changing over to 1911 style grips requires some frame modifications as I'm sure you're already well aware. The final product of the grip mod looks and feels very much like a 1911 pistol.
