Has any body had this happen sometimes will shoot 2-6 rounds at once what would be wrong any ideas?

I have not had it happen to me but know of a few that has happens. The cause is normally found in fire control, sear, hammer,springs. The hammer sear is not engaging and may be having hammer follow. It could happen on a slam fire to in which the FP is stuck. The disconnector need to be checked for function to.

Do a complete detail cleaning and inspect the part closely.

DON"T FIRE IT AGAIN TILL YOU FIND AND FIX THE PROBLEM.

I would start with the bolt and see how gunned up the firing pin channel is. Then I would detail strip the fire control part, like blue said, and look for parts with issues. ..


Do you have stock parts in it that have been modded, or have you put in after market guts?

stock parts gun only 3 weeks old did detal cleaning when brand new. sent back to ruger will post what thay said was wrong when it gets back.

Typically the hammer and sear engagement angles are off of specifications to cause this kind of failure. Firing pin could have jammed forward but that would be easy to detect visually by inspecting the bolt face. New pistol, no modifications made, possibly a defective part. Sending it back for repair was the right thing to do.

A cracked sear pin did that to one of mine.
The bolt would slam shut and jar the hammer/sear apart sometimes.

I'm thinking its a cracked pin or broken spring shot around 350 rounds before it went crazy. Can't wait to see what ruger says.

I hadn't considered the possibility of a broken sear pin but that could be a causal factor. Another one that could cause this type of situation is installing the sear spring backwards on the pivot pin, which would place too little return tension on the sear and cause it to slip off of the hammer hook during firing.

Got gun back from Ruger thay replaced sear,sear spring, and ejector rivet.Cant wait to take it out and shoot it again.

Your ejector must have come loose, that didn't have any connection to the problem you originally described. They go over the complete pistol when it comes in and fix anything out of specifications. The sear and spring would cause the condition you described. You should be fine now.
