Price for Mark 2

Post by gabby » Thu Apr 19, 2007 4:54 pm

I was recently asked what a good price for a used Ruger Mark 2 (22/45 model) Stainless in a 4" Bull Barrel.
It comes with a case, 2 mags, manual and in almost new condition.
What would be a good price to pick this up for?

Someone on another gun board has an almost identical question about a stainless Mark II 22/45, with a 5.5" bull barrel. There are some regional price variations, plus Mark IIs are highly desireable after the release of the Mark III. I would spend anywhere between$275 to $350 for one in excellent condition.

Based on being pretty-much-NIB and my preference of a MK2,
it's a basic Ruger Pistol...
If I were SELLING and was not motivated to sell, I'd ask $275-300...
and maybe be willing to sell for 260... for quick-cash...
--- TX has face-to-face gun sales... I assume DE is too ---
If I were BUYING it... and it was not something I really had to have...
I'd want to get it for 250 or less...

I visit with guys at the range fairly often and one guy pays $250 for a well used
rifle that he likes and another has a better & more "collectable" one that
he paid 175 for...
( I got a '77 Marlin 39a that needed a thorough cleaning and blue was worn,
my buddy had just bought a '51 39a that looked great for $175...
go figure... )

my 250-260-ish range is pretty close for this area... DE may be more.
Good Luck. show us pictures, after you get it...

I am not looking it's my brother who lives in Missouri.
He says the asking price is $275.
I believe he is going to get to shoot it before be purchases it in the next day or so.
He is pretty experianced with guns and knows what to look for but it has been a while since he had looked at the price of Rugers.
Thanks for your input.

On another note, I want to put an order into rimfire sports for some parts for a 1979 Mark 1 Standard (A100 Frame) that I recently picked up.
I'm looking to replace the sear with a VQ sear, get a Hogue right hand grip w/thumb rest, and get a spare mag.
I e mailed them to varify part numbers in order to place an order and haven't heard from them in 3 days.
Is this unusual for them?

No, he's usually very prompt. Rimfire sports is a one man operation and perhaps Alan has something up.

Bullseye,
Alan did get back to me.
I want to replace my sear on my Mark 1 and some other things.
I believe you told me that the VQ sear for the Mark 2 will work in the Mark 1 but it was a while ago.
Alan replyed to me that he was not sure if it would work.
Will the Mark 2 VQ sear work in my Mark 1 (A100 frame) Standard?

Yes they will install. I have a Mark II VQ sear installed in my Mark I. The only loss is when the hammer is down and the bolt is closed my thumb safety lever will engage. In the Mark I this is not supposed to happen, for me this is no big deal. The thumb safety can be engaged anytime on a Mark II/III.
