New .22 SP-101 officially announced

It's on Ruger's website, this morning-

http://www.ruger.com/products/sp101/models.html

I preferred the older six shot, and the simpler sights, honestly. But not the grip. I really hoped that if it was re-introduced, it would have traditional grips. I can't help that the "peg" and monogrip design irk the hell out of me. It's ugly, and not needed on a .22. Kind of like disc brakes on a lawnmower.

After looking at the website view, I've decided they used a front sight from a rifle....... :D

Noticed the "suggested" price is $46 more than the other SPs.

I think if I ever got one, I'd like the original better. Still wouldn't like the grip, though.....

Those rubber grips are excellent...... At least on the gp100 . I am sure there are numerous choices for wood grips out there. The sight look like hi-viz .... Should be a good shooter

Good looking revolver.

Greentop has ordered SP101 .22's. The price will be $599. Word is they are a hot item. I asked, but didn't get, the price of ones that were legal.

Jeff Quinn has a little review on his website about this new pistol (with some nice pictures) http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-SP101-22.htm

I figured I post it since you two seem to be negotiating a holiday swap party.

Good review. $600 seemed a bit high, review may make it more attractive. I'll nose around.

I'm curious why Ruger came out with this .22 LR model. For center fire models [I have the .357 mag] the SP101 is great; however, with the Ruger MKIII and 22/45 line with 11 round vs 8 capacity I see no reason for it. Any ideas ?
