VQ Sear-My MK II is Reborn

The VQ sear is a must do MK II mod. Can't believe I waited so long. I'm a Ruger fan so I was kind of shocked when I removed the stock sear. The machining was atrocious. Half of the sear face has a shallow (maybe a thousandth or so ) oval shaped depression hollowed out. It worked OK but I can't imagine such a thing passing inspection.
Another thing I noticed was the numerous little cleaning patch fuzz balls that had accumulated even with generous spray cleaner use. I didn't field strip this jewel, ever. I think maybe one should do that periodically.

It just goes to show how one relatively minor change can have a significant impact on the operability of your firearm. There are flaws in the OEM parts but they do operate within the manufacturer's tolerance standards. It is a good idea to periodically clean and inspect your firearm, it's just not necessary to do it after every firing session.

Misfire, you need to check out a Marvel adjustable trigger for your Mark. I put one in my Mark II to go along with the VQ sear and it's the sweetest trigger pull you'll ever find!!

I second what Blindpig says. One of the aftermarket triggers like Volquartsen Marvel or Clark Custom with both pre/post travel adjustment is a sweet addition.
