22 Ammo Selection

Post by juniour » Sat Mar 19, 2011 12:00 pm

I got a 38 quart tub of mixed 22 ammo along with the S&W Model 41 from My Dad. I'm wondering what is the Best and grades of Ammo in here. There is CCI, Federal, Thunderbolts, Remington, Spitfire, Eley, Winchester. Some appear to have plated lead bullets and some are bare lead. What would be better plated lead or bare? And what would My better Ammo Be out of the lot? Is there different care to the gun with the different lead?
Thanks, Juniour

I have found fewer failures with CCI ammo. I personally prefer there High Velocity Round Nose 100 packs there a little more but quality is there

There are 4 classes I know of

Subsonic
normal 22lr ammo
High Velocity
Hyper Velocity I been told Hyper is for revolvers only due to its power... Sure bullseye can either say yay or na on that statement thought

The Eley is likely the highest quality. Next would be the CCI if it is SV or Green Tag. Federal and Winchester are about even with the Remingtons bringing up the rear.
