22/45 mag problems?

I had a magazine get "stuck" in my 22/45 last night....first time ever.... the top round wouldn't feed, and seemed jammed up above the feed ramp. And for awhile, I couldn't eject the magazine..... it finally popped loose.

Any issues with 22/45 magazines?

Since I have Notaro after-market grips, I have plastic mag pads on the bottom... wonder if that's related.... but, as I said, never happened before, and the mags seem to work fine now....

Think I got it....small burr on the Notaro mag pad on the offending mag, which I scraped away with a pocket knife....also, a little forward pressure (toward the muzzle) on the pads and the mags snap right in..... what happened last night was the mag wouldn't seat, so I gave it a hard slap with my palm....jammed it up in there too high!

Easy, easy does it with my sweet little 22/45........

Still had a personal best last night, even with two alibis on the second round...

I know, I know... Top competitors on the line at Camp Perry have nothing to worry about, but the scores are creeping up....creeping up.....

Glad to hear you solved your problem with the after market grips.

and congrats on your personal best. In the end, you are competing against your self, relax and have fun the scores will come up.

Thanks, Blue, I'm having a great time! Hey, I know this is an impossible question, but do you have any suggestions on how to address the problem of a different zero on each segment? I'm slightly high right on slow fire, low left on Timed Fire, and all over the place on Rapid! Lol... I think it's my grip changing for each phase, but if it does, I'm not smart enough to notice it, except on paper..... Any suggestions appreciated.....

Here's what it sounds like to me. Slow fire - anticipating the shot and heeling it out. Timed fire - jerking the trigger or at least being too aggressive with the pull. Rapid fire - just trying to get all five off in tens seconds.

Consistency is the key to success.

My big problem is within the 20' to 25' range. We get six shots at each station and 12secs to do them in. I will heel the pistol or push it at lease once. Old shakey and nerves I guess. When not on the clock I get a nice tight group.

Range night again last night, and I've solved all my 22/45 mag problems.....which weren't really problems at all! Insert gently, push just slightly forward and they all snapped in just like they're supposed to......! Whacking them in like a movie star doesn't work!

(Did I mention how smug I get when I shoot two courses of fire without an alibi and with cheap ammunition while all the Smith & Wesson Model 41's have to shoot twice?!? Lol...... and they ain't all that far ahead of me, either, and some are behind!)

Hi guys. Anybody have a problem with the magazine on a 22/45 not ejecting very far out of the grip? Mine just moves a little...just enough to get a fingernail into and pull it on out. Got several mags and they all act the same. Is something wrong in the well or do they all do that?

This sounds a lot like a Mark III 22/45 issue. Is that what you have? The magazine disconnector safety lever causes the magazines in Mark III pistols to not drop out of the frame but instead just drop about 1/4". The only solution is to remove the magazine safety disconnector parts and replace them with a Mark II hammer bushing. Once that is accomplished your magazines will drop out freely when the release button is depressed.

Judge.. Welcome to the best gun forum on the web! The magazine disconnect safety that Bullseye mentions is a "feature" on Mark III 22/45s so they can be sold in California. If your state laws do not have such arcane restrictions, you can remove the bothersome parts .. and substitute a Mark II hammer bushing as mentioned above. I and many others have done this to great success and satisfaction. It also simplifies some of the take-down manipulations when you want to field strip & clean the pistol. There are details available in the technical discussions part of this forum. The bushing is available from Brownells.com.
