On my 22/45 Ruger the mags have to be seated real hard to get them to say in while shooting. I still have one that keeps popping out every now and then. Can I please have some suggestions on how to cure this.

Sounds like your mag catch button may be a little out of specs. Since this happens with all your mags I'd remove the latch and file down the flat side a few thousandths to allow the mags to seat better.

I read on RFC that one user had the same problem. What he found was a piece of plastic on the grip frame where the mags are inserted was keeping his from fully seating. He just removed some of the plastic and all was well.

Is your mags hard to seat with the Bolt back, too?

Is the mag hitting the ejector? Indicates the Mag are sitting to high too.

It not hitting the ejector Blue and I have checked for hitting the frame and it looks Ok. I am going to give it a good once over again tomorrow.

I've recommended my remedy based on this problem is happening with all mags. The part of the mag release that should be filed is the flat portion (green writing). In the past there has been some metal flash on top of this area which will affect the magazine's positioning within the frame. A little smoothing with a file will remove this flash. The flat area should be even with the large pin for proper mag positioning.



If it was only one mag then adjusting the underside of the locking bump with a file will position the offender more effectively.

Thanks Bullseye as I got up today and took the bolt catch out and touched it up a little. I am also going to touch the hook of the mag shoe as they seem to touch the frame when inserted. The 22/45 is proving to be a little tricky with this plastic frame.

Another option, instead of adjusting each magazine is to actually take a little material off of the bottom of the 22/45's plastic frame. Again, I only say this because this problem is happening with all of your magazines. That way if you use another mag or buy some new ones you won't have to adjust them too.

That sounds like a winner to me. I have about .002" clearence now with all my mags. As soon as I can get to the range I'll give it a work out.
