I already have two matte black finish Beretta Bobcats. I recently found that Gander Mtn. has access to a pile of Inox Bobcats, and I can get one in about a week for $380 and tax.

The Inox has a stainless steel barrel and slide, and the frame is finished in silver instead of black. Every other part is the same as the matte Bobcat, for $80 difference.

One pro is that I would not need to buy anything else. No holsters, mags, parts, etc. I have all that. A second pro is that I want it..........

The cons are that I don't need it, and it would warm up my credit card a little, about $9 more a month.........

Beretta USA rotates all of their production, except the M9, because of the M9. So it's now or maybe a year from now, if this Bobcat stays in production. Decisions, decisions...........

Hard to say if you don't need it don't get it but that's what it comes down to for me. Even having said that I have several personal Ruger 22's that I don't need.

I would not go into debt for another gun beyond training and carry. Since you have training and carry covered, and spare parts through redundancy and cannibalization until replacement parts can arrive, I can hardly see how incurring debt for what would essentially be a toy is a good move. But then I'm a hardcore debt-free guy, perhaps there is a need that over-rides the pucker factor of going deeper in debt.

Hard decision. Let's see, what I haven't done
1. Have a need for the firearm. Several years ago all I has was an old .38 revolver and a couple of old .22 rifles. All I needed.
2. Trading in a one or two to get one I liked. None traded.
3. Only one of a type.

Best I've been able to do is not buy exactly identical firearms. Doesn't keep me from a few Ruger .22's and several .38/.357 revolvers. I can always figure out some "need" for one. Just like my last one.

If you really like the Beretta, go for it.

I can't help you a bit as I am a gun junkie, and I like to shoot them all. If I see one and think I want it, I buy it if I got the money. Disability and a fixed income has put the brakes on me. I get one maybe two if I am lucky a year.

The Brownell's Beretta parts list tells me something. They list the slide and barrel in both matte and Inox. The Inox barrel is $9.62 more than the matte barrel. The Inox slide is $8.10 more than the matte slide. That's $17.72 difference. The silver finish frame wouldn't cost a cent more to do, and nothing else is different. Yet they charge $85.00 (list) more for the Inox Bobcat. I know, they do it because they can..........

One could buy a matte Bobcat and the two stainless parts to swap out, and save $67.28. Inox Bobcat with a black frame. Might look better, too.

I am leaning more towards hoping for a good fair priced used one at upcoming gun shows. I know, "fair price" and "gun show" don't go together, but sometimes you find a deal.

Okay, I warmed up the plastic with a Beretta Bobcat Inox. I made some phone calls and found two at a shop about 60 miles down the road. I paid $355, which beat Gander by $25, so I feel good about the whole deal.

I bought the one in the display over a second one in the box, as the display seemed smoother. The grips had a few scratches, so they are now in the spare part supply and a formerly spare pair are installed, ready for the "insurance photo" shoot.

I always do a right, left, and serial number close-up photo of every gun I buy, for the hopefully never insurance claim back-up.

See you are as bad as I am. If I see it and can get my hands on it almost nothing will stop me from getting it. Good luck with your new pistol.

Having three is a little screwy, but this pistol fascinates me. It has everything it has to have , and nothing else. Being so simple is the attraction, I guess. I had to get the stainless "Sunday go to meetin'" version. The matte ones will be carried, though.

Sixty miles would have eaten up the good price, but my xB gets 38 on the highway. There was a small mall, and the significant other and I had lunch, too. So it was a good day, and I didn't get in the doghouse for buying another toy.

I can hopefully get it dirty next weekend.
