Cleaning .22 revolvers?

I love my Single-Six, except for cleaning the cylinder face and cone area. I generally use Hoppe's No.9 and a small brass "toothbrush". Then I use Birchwood-Casey's lead removal cloth folded over a used up gift card, or old credit card, on the cylinder face. I have a stainless Single-Six, so no worries of removing blue with the cloth. The card trick especially works great around the center pin hole bushing.

It seems with rimfires, you get as much wax as you do powder and lead residue.

Anyone care to post their pet method for cleaning rimfire revolvers? In particular, the cylinder face and forcing cone area?

I don't do anything out of the ordinary, clean it/oil it/ shoot it some more. Then oil it again, as everything I touch will rust in 48 hrs or less.

My single six is blued. I don't clean it all that often. I do wipe it down with clp after each use to prevent rust.

When I clan it, I use CLP and Gunscrubber to clean the cone area and cylinder chambers. The rest of the pistol gets "washed" in these. I use a nylon brush on the forcing cone and a bronze brush in the chambers. I run run a bore snake an wet/dry patches through the barrel.

I have read that a pencil eraser works well on the cylinder face, I have not tried it though I generally use hoppes elite and a bronze brush for the stubborn stuff... spray on let sit while i enjoy a beverage, spray on again and scrub with the brush wipe clean (lather, rinse, repeat if needed)

I'm one that do clean the cylinder face if it's a gun that I shoot regularly and not a safe queen. Doing so I think you wear the finish faster.

You are referring to the beverage, Right

The other sounds too mush like work......

My 6" nickle Colt Python, I have spend hours cleaning that gun. The leadaway cloth works well, as well as NuFinish Car Polish
