OK , do it need to buy the volquartzen kit, or can i just buy the bushing and drill the shoe and put travel screws in and get the same trigger? I have two marks and both need fixed to shoot matches. Just dont want to spend 300 bucks if I can get the same results with a little work

Yes you can get a good trigger without the complete kit.

The best gain will be with the Clark MKII Bushing. It will remove most all of the creep in the trigger. If a MKIII it will remove the mag disconnect and may not be legal for competition. You no not need the complete kit just the VQ Sear. And do the trigger mod. Once the trigger has been adj there is no need to change the settings. The VQ trigger come with a little lighter plunger spring.

Bartman, Bullseye pointed out to me that the Clark MKII bushing would disable a safety device (magazine sear disconnect) and therefore would be illegal for competition.

I'd also recommend the VQ sear and the trigger mods for pre-travel. There is already a post travel screw in the trigger, albeit not the easiest to adjust. Make sure you blue loctite the screw when you have them set.

I found that if you can fit a tighter crosspin in the hammer, you can remove a remarkable amount of the slop.
It's a shame, the gun is just being retro'd to a Mark II, but, I'd hate to drive to Camp Perry and have them say no way!!

ok they are both Mark III. I will probably not shoot at camp perry but, will the VQ kit keep everything legal with their bushing?

I do not think VQ has a MKIII bushing only MKII. So you will have to deal with all of the creep. That being said check with your league some have more relaxed rules. If you have access to a lathe you could make your own special bushing that would eliminate the creep and keep the mag disconnect. Just need the bushing to fit tight against the hammer (like the Clark MKII) and min clearance for pin clearance. This would also make assembly easier since it will all stay together.

Changing the Mark III bushing system over to the Mark II bushing will technically make your pistol illegal for sanctioned NRA competition. But if you just intend to do a little local league shooting you can change it. Just be sure to keep the old parts in case you have to reinstall them later.

Ok got it. I am not too worried about the mag safety.
