I have been waiting for an LCI Filler piece from member bpatza over on rimfirecental:

LCI Filler Piece? - RimfireCentral.com Forums

He built a prototype run of these and I ordered one.......it arrived last Friday. Yesterday was the install day.

First off I will say I was much more than pleased with both the quality and the quickness of shipping. bpatza is the man! The filler piece arrived with a note explaining that not all of the LCI slots are cut exactly the same and that there would most likely be some fitting. He was correct for mine........it did take some fitting. I have a good friend who is much better with a file than I am, so over to Bob's house I went. I did the tear down, cleaning, and reassembly......Bob did the fitting.

Here is a picture with the filler installed.........

I think it is the second best cure for the LCI......the first being not having the hole in the frame at all! I really like the way it looks.

In addition to the LCI install. I smoothed up the bolt and did a general cleaning. The bolt operation was much smoother following this.

It had been cleaned when new, but not since the last outing of 300 rounds. After seeing how dirty it was from 300 rounds, I am joining the clean it every time after shooting group. I know you probably don't really need to, but crap it was dirty.

Anyway, this is the first mod on this MK III. After the taxman has his way with me, I plan to finish this one, do a full custom Charger, and my wife's new 10/22 DSP.

I have enough projects to keep me busy for a while.

Bpatza is the Man! He's putting together a more cost effective process at the moment but will continue helping out on this subject by providing an alternative to the LCI. Go Bruce go....

I handmade a stainless one for mine last April. With just hand tools it is a PITA and time consuming. I was sooooo grateful my first try was a success. I can appreciate bpatza's effort.

My very over long post is here :

Do you happen to know what type of stainless bpatza used? Was it 416 or 304?
I'm not sure but I think the Ruger barrels are 416. Is that correct?
