Benelli MP95 Feed issue

Post by lookingforX » Thu Dec 17, 2009 11:27 am

I have a Benelli MP95 that will occasionaly jam on the last round in the mag. The round will actually feed high and catch on the top edge of the chamber. When it jams, it is always on the last round in the mag, but I have noticed that other rounds are slightly deformed by scraping the top of the chamber when loading. The issue isnt mag specific.. I have new 6 round mags.. new recoil spring, and new buffer. Jam has happend with Eley CCI and RWS so I dont believe it is ammo specific... and the chamber edge was rounded by larry at Perry. Recently I have been loading 6 rounds just so I can get through the Timed and Rapid without an alibi.... I am really trying to understand what the root cause is...Anybody have a similiar issue? any recommendations?

Looking at the MP 95 magazine it sounds like it may be that the follower is getting a little too much front tilt causing the round to strike the upper chamber face during last round feeding. When the other rounds are in the mag they naturally feed at close to the correct angle because the cartridge rims naturally tilt the follower downward nose first, But the last round has the opposite effect and will be angled upwards. The solution may be to slightly bend the two pair of metal lips together (downward) near the front of the mag and decrease the follower's tilt angle.

Bullseye is likely right. Never really had an issue with mine, sure your bolt face is really clean and isn't slightly hanging up on it as the slide moves forward?
