Sun Optics scope mount for Mk III ?

Post by ptpalpha » Fri Nov 27, 2009 9:36 am

I like the looks of the Sun Optics scope rail, but I don't see it listed anywhere as fitting the Mk 3's (only 1's and 2's).
Does anyone know if it's compatable with the Mk III, and if so, anyone have any experience/reviews with this mount?
(I've got the 6 7/8" slabside barrel if that makes a difference).
Thanks,
Paul

It is not compatible with the Mark III due to the LCI location on the left hand side of the receiver. However if one has access to a milling machine, a slot could easily be cut into the rail to accommodate the LCI. Or, one could simply remove the LCI from their Mark III pistol's receiver and then just install the rail over the empty slot.

I have not seen one of these mounts on a Mark II pistol but the specifications says the iron sights can still be used due to a see-through configuration of the mount. This tells me that the scope positioning would be rather high in respect to other mounting systems. Not a negative in my eyes but to some this may be a undesirable feature of this mount.

Thanks Bullseye! Covering my disabled LCI is a positive for me...I hate that thing. Sounds like the Sun is perfect. Thanks again.
