If you're just planning on going to the range and shooting paper, or doing a little plinking, I think there is nothing wrong with using bulk packaged ammo from Federal, Remington, or Winchester. It's what I use when I'm just practicing and it's plenty accurate for that purpose, cheap to buy, and seldom has more than a dud round or two to the box. I shoot literally thousands of rounds of the stuff every month and it works just fine.

Enjoy the pistol and shoot often.

The key to ammo is - Does it function in your gun? It does no good if it won't cycle in the gun. Do some testing, experiment with different brands and see what fits your budget and style of shooting. The Federal bulk brands seem to work fine in Ruger 22 Auto pistols.

Just my two cents.
For bullseye shooting-CCI lead HP = small groups from a rest.
Now that's from my gun, but maybe worth trying in yours.

Mine likes the American Eagle AE22 which I think is the same as Fed 712's which is a little cheaper. AE22 has only 40 rounds/box where 712's have 50/box.

I wish there was a conversion table to know what rounds are the same. All I here is ### is good then I hear it the same as ....

fed 750 = 550 count bulk pack......
