What Kind of Scope Rings

I have a MkIII target pistol which came with a Weaver Style scope base and holes already drilled and tapped in the receiver for mounting the base. And I've just bought a BSA scope. Being a greenhorn, I didn't realize I had to buy the mounting rings separately.
Looking through Midway's huge catalog, I find several choices. There's a Weaver-style see-through (whatever that is) ring made for BSA scopes. It's a "high" ring. Then there are two models of rings that fit "standard 3/8" dovetails" made for BSA scopes, one "medium" and the other "high". Do Weaver bases have 3/8" dovetails? And what are the advantages of high vs. medium rings, or vise-versa?
Anyway, your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
