Yesterday, I took my mk111 22/45 behind the house to get the red dot(cheap BSA) sighted in a little better. I was born without my legs from the knees down. I have a concrete pad poured with a picnic table setting on it. It makes a great place for me to pull my scooter up on to shoot. I was shooting at my shoot&see and spinner targets. I got bored with that and was looking around for something else to shoot. I found a stump in the back yard. I did not have a target on it, but I just wanted to see if I could hit it. I fired a mag at it. I took my measuring wheel with me. It was 203' and I hit it all 10 shoot, about paper plate size. That amazed me so much I thought I would try to hit the rifle target 100yards out. I jumped on the 4-wheeler for this run and I could not believe all the shoots were a pattern of about a 5 gallon bucket. All shots were sand bagged. Was this just LUCK!

Thanks! With a dot set right and a sand bag, anybody could do it. I want a better dot sight. The dot is not a perfect circle and kind of has a fuzzy edge. I have learned to just use the best part of the dot.

You might want to try something like this

Excellent shooting, sandbag, fuzzy dot and all. The Ruger will do its part if you do yours. Keep it up.

With Len's scope, you would either need a crane or a good sandbag.

Looking to get some wheels and a tongue on it and a limber , then Bear can haul it to the range for me.

Hey OM, I think the scope belongs on your Henry, unless of course you like the larger scope for your pistol.

I got a few scopes and they get move around a lot, takes just a few minutes to boresight one and then about 5 shots to get it zeroed. That one on the Eight is a 6-24, got a 2.5-10 that I will take to the range with me tomorrow. Got a couple of 10-40's and an 8-32 and even have my old 4 digit 10/22 carbine with HViz front and rear and it shoots pretty good.

Would a scope work ok at 50 feet or would the dot be better at that range?

It should work at 50 feet. I believe the AO will go down that far, may not on that scope,it is a 6-24. I know the 2.5-10 will go down to 50 feet, i normally shoot it at my outdoor range at 25 yards or 75 feet as we do not havew a 50 foot outdoor section.

I lucked into a tricked out MK II at firesale prices a few years back. Full Clark trigger treatment and an Aimpoint 1000. You don't squeeze the trigger so much as mentally will the gun to fire

If I do my part, the Ruger will bust clay pigeons at 75 yards all day long. In case you're not familiar with them, clay pigeons (skeet/trap targets) are about 4 inches in diameter.

(I'm bragging on the gun, not the shooter here...)

Yup.know what clay targets are, actually they are 110,mm in diameter, jut a little over 4 inches. Have not shot many in the last few years fue to some vision problems. Used to shoot a lot oa skeet, five stand and especially sporting clays, probably for several years when I was shooting at 3 different clubs I know I shot a flat of shells a week of assorted sizes..
The Great Eight never had the balance to be an off hand shooter, that is why it ended up with a rifle scope on it and shot from the bench. Pretty amazing as it will put a llot of rifles to shame, usually shoot it at 25 yards.Not much into Bullseye shooting at my age mostly point and shoot self defense type stuff at 25 feet or less. I my estimation, anything over 25 yards is for a rifle.

Sorry I wasn't a little clearer, Bear, the explantion of "clay pigeons" was for the orignal poster. I figgered a Fine, Upstanding Michigander like you would be familiar with the critters :D

No, where about, I was born and raised in Saginaw and am still here. Killed a lot of them clay pigeons but have never been able to figure out how to clean them and cook them so they are tender and tasty, or even half way palatable. I made a fishing trip to Maine once in the early 60's with a guy I worked with, he was raised in the Rangely Lake area, the middle of nowhere or close to it.
