And what does need have to do with it anyway? So, I was out at my range happily shooting my 41 when I took a break and went into the club house. There is this High Standard Sport King disassembled on the counter. Seems it will only fire with a magazine loaded with no more than five rounds and it is for sale. I bought it on the spot,cleaned/lubed it with Eezox filled it with 10 rounds of CCI SV and fired five full mags with zero problems. Very accurate as that slant grip points well for me. Turns out is is a Hamden made that the original owner bought new in 1963 and rarely shot it. It is very tight with at least 95% finish and no cracks in the grips. Regards

George, the trigger is actually very good. I had no problem keeping a nice tight group at 15 yards off hand. Interesting design with a fatal flaw(my opinion) in that there isn't really a feed ramp and function is very dependent on the magazine. I'm told that when new the mags were tuned and test fired with each pistol prior to shipment and buying extra mags can be touch and go. The push button barrel release is a good design and the barrel lock up is tight. Regards

Great find, give the real KAZ a cookie for me and the Bear. I have an old, 1957 purchase, Hi Standard, actually a JC Higgins model 80 and my experience with mags has been poor at best. I have the original mag and one after market that run just great, but at different I have purchased maybe 10 aftermarket mags that just could never be tuned to work properly and were returned and then I gave up and just use the 2 I have. Don't shoot it much because I prefer the grip angle of the Ruger 22/45's as it is the same as a 1911 and my arm and hand just point them better. When I shoot the Hi Standard and point it out, I have to consciously point the muzzle downward. When I get enough guns I will advise you of that fact. You just about always need another gun even at my age.

I had one exactly like that, and of all the guns I've ever let get away, that is the one I kick myself the most over. What a sweet unit!

Downeaster, we all have guns that we miss. I had a nice Military that was lost in a fire, and when I picked this one up it did feel great and reminded me of that pistola. Regards

Now that I am older and smarter, I wish I had bought the two barrel model, came with both the long barrel shown and a 4-3/4? also for $39.95. I just bought the cheapie one for $34.95 If foresight was as good as hindsight we would all be rich and famous.

Well I knew that there was a place where I wouldn't be condemned for my complete lack of restraint. Where I would not be criticized for going in for a cold drink,and coming out with this new to me blaster. I was doing better, after all in the last few weeks I've parted with a P22,Smith 422,and a CZ 452 all of which I already miss.
So, not spending that extra $5 to acquire that extra barrel set still haunts you huh?

Guess I am OK, I don't have that one yet but probably will soon. If it ever gets warm enough to use them here again. Damn near no temp at this time.

I need another .22 like I need another hole in the head, but I'd probably risk the Wrath of SWMBO for a CZ at the right price.

Not as bad as it seems Downeaster. I only parted with it to my Brother who has been lusting after it, and who allowed me to shoot it Tuesday where we both shot five holes touching 50 yd groups on a rare no wind day in Texas. I did hate to part with it,but then again I used it's sale to lessen the pain($$$)of acquiring an ANCHUTZ 1712 which is currently putting a big smile on my face. Regards

Ah. Well, under the circumstances, I'd have to say you did the right thing then. A CZ I can dream about with some faint hope of fulfilling it. An Anschutz is so far out of range I can't even see it from here...
