Bullseye question...

In your reassembly video, thanks for that by the way. The Ruger manual just didn't cut it. After watching your 30 seconds breakdown and reassembly made me feel kinda silly. got it though! Wondering what kind of optic mount rings those are on your Ruger??? I'd like something like that for my MKII. I kinda don't want to have to get it drilled. What kind of optics would you recommend in that case as well. I have a Leopold 2x-8, but seems I could do better. It came with the MKII. Trying to keep the weight down.

Thanks,

Chad

I don't have my own (Bullseye) video on my web help pages for disassembly and reassembly of Mark II pistols. I do have a couple of links to the Volquartsen videos but they do not have pistols with scopes on them. If you want a scope mount that doesn't have to use pre drilled holes, then the Weigand No gunsmith mounts are good for that. It replaces the rear sight and mounts securely to your pistol.

As far as optics I'm into red dot sights vice pistol scopes. There are many types that are lightweight and go well with a weaver rail style mount.

Sorry for the confusion, I thought it was yours. I'll check into the weigand mount.

Thanks,

No apologies necessary. Which video are you referring to? I'd like to see it.

Here's a link to the scope mount http://www.jackweigand.com/rm2fd.html They offer them in both silver and black. Many retail parts distributors carry it, including Rimfire Sports and Custom, so you don't have to buy it exclusively from the manufacturer. It says Mark I/II but will also apply to a Mark III, as the receiver and scope dovetail are the same between the generations of these pistols.

Hope this helps.

I cant seem to find the video I was talking about. I did a search last night when I found it. "MKII reassembly" The gun was what looked like a MKII 5.5 bull stainless with optics on-top with what looked like mounts that clamped around the chamber area. The fellow in the video wasn't really in the picture, but was sitting in front of lid to storage tub. He would to a basic disassemble and reassemble in less than 30 sec. I'd say he's done it a few times. Or a few thousand. My 24 year MKII needs a few friendly taps to get apart and back togather. Something I noticed when I had mine apart was how rough the chamber was where it fit to the frame and around where the mag fit through the bottom. I did some very light fine filing to remove some of the edges...Hope I didn't hurt anything. That scope mount you recommended looks like it would work great...Thanks

OK, now I know which one you're talking about. That is Yzguy performing the task. He is the owner of the 1bad69.com website. Those clamp-on scope rings seen in the video are no longer available, the company (So Low) that makes them went out of business several years ago.
