What are the best mods for a mk111 22/45?

My gun came with a cheap BSA red dot and we were shooting quaters at 45' yesterday, sand bag. It would be easier with a better trigger. What brand is good and is it something I could do or do you need a smith? The gun runs great on fed bulk. It does not like the bulk remington.

Replacing the sear and trigger with VQ parts is a fairly easy task. The trigger has external adjustments and that makes dialing in your trigger's travel much simpler than the alternative. This is easily an owner capable task. If you have any difficulty refer to my detail stripping page for the parts replacement and you can always get plenty of coaching here on Guntalk-Online.

http://www.rimfiresports.com/ is your best bet. You could go straight through VQ but you save a few bucks with Rimfire Sports & Custom (Also I checked Midway and they are out of stock on the sears.). Just playing devils advocate here:
http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/22pts.htm Clark makes a quality trigger as well, they both function very good just different styles. If your funds can warrant the extra expense of the VQ extractor I would recommend it. Many cycling issues (Though this is mout since yours functions correctly.) in these pistols are solved by popping the VQ extractor in and you will eventually need to replace the extractor anyway.
Speaking from past experience, never use Remington rim-fire ammo if you can avoid it.

Another reason to use Rimfire Sports and Custom is no shipping or handling charges for items shipped in the USA. That is area where some suppliers gouge their customers, especially on small orders, but not Alan at RS&C.

The VQ sear is a popular item and their site is as well - Keep checking and they will be back in stock shortly...

Two things every Ruger owner should do. Install a VQ sear and a VQ Exact Edge Extractor. This is money well spent even if your broke. You can put a trigger (or ever cheaper, mod your factory one with a pretravel screw) in later along with a Clark Hammer Bushing and Pin. Just my .02.
