Congratulations! I understand your excitement about the Model 41. I'll bet you cannot wait to take it out to the range. I guess your going to have a great New Years day at the range with your new pistol.
What length of barrel did your pistol come with?

Thanks Bullseye
It has a 5 1/2" Barrel. I will not have a chance to try it out till Friday. The Ultra Dot is in place now I need to start looking for grips.
I have the walnut has anyone ever made there own grips. I was thinking about giving it a try.

I made a set of 1911 trainer grips. I bulked up the diameter a little to accommodate my large sized hands.
Not that hard to do if you've got some wood working skills.

Welcome chefmossy! I trust that you've stocked up a good supply of CCI Standard Velocity. You are going to need it and, something to wipe the big smile off your face Friday

Those are not the standard factory M-41 grips. Those look like a set of Herrett's H-41grips.

Herrett's H-41 grips
The factory grips look like this on both sides.
The Herrett's Automatic Target model grips for the Smith M-41 may be more up to what you are looking for in a thumb rest style bullseye target grip.
Here's a set of Herrett's Nationals with finger grooves and checkering.
I have a set of Herrett's Camp Perry Nationals, they are similar to these but do not have the finger grooves and are checkered around the front strap.

Had a great time today. Fired 200 rounds of Federal Champion no CCI Standard to be found. No problems went to get Ulta dot on target but the first 10 rounds at 10 yards were in a 1 inch group.
This Gun is going to be a lot of fun

Oh yeah! I guess those Herrett's grips kind of grow on you, Huh? You will have a lot of fun getting to know that pistol. I still have the first one I bought many years ago.
