Mk lll sear

I want to install a VQ VC2TS sear in my Mk lll Hunter. Will the sear spring have to be changed and how will this affect the original trigger pull?

I think the kit comes with a sear spring. When I replaced the sear on my Hunter, I also replaced the sear spring. However, I don't believe you will see much difference between the two springs.

I just got the sear and not the kit and just changed that in my three 22/45's and the trigger pull came put at 2 to 2-1/4 pounds on all of them. Idid add the pre travel screw to the trigger and adjusted it and the over travel screw and they are great triggers now. Good luck, it is a fairly easy change to make.

As long as you're not adding it into a 22/45 Hunter, you won't have to change the sear spring. The sears are the same between all the Mark II and Mark III models (including the 22/45). With the 22/45 models, the sear spring is different and therefore you use the OEM spring when installing a new VQ sear. Some of the VQ sears come with sear springs in the packaging and some don't.

Never had one of the steel frame guns apart and have never shot one much, prefer the grip angle of the 22/45's as they emulate the 1911. I have an old High Standard that I shoot rarely and it has the same grip angle as the steel frame Rugers, and when I point it toward the target I have to move the muzzle down to line up the sights. Muscle memory makes this happen as I normally shoot the 1911's or the 22/45's.

I think maybe I didn't make myself clear earlier. My Ruger is a model #10120 RUGER 22/45 MARK 3 HUNTER .22LR 6 7/8". Are you saying that there is no point to change sears as what I would be getting from VQ would be the same thing that I have now? If the sears on MK ll and Mk lll are the same-what about changing to a VQ MK ll hammer (V2TH target hammer) or a V3TH target hammer-At this time I am using a MK ll hammer bushing in my MK lll hammer for the Mag. disconnect. I know this may be getting a little confusing but I am trying to avoid the complete accurizing kit at this time.

I understand your question was if you could use a VQ2TS sear in your Mark III. My answer is yes. The OEM sears are the same between all the models, but the OEM's are not cut the same as a VQ sear. The difference in the VQ sear's engagement angle is what makes it so effective in lightening the trigger pull. What I'm saying is the VQ2TS sear is the same for all the Ruger models. In fact this retailer lists them for use in all the Ruger models RS&C

The sear springs are are different between the models (22/45 and the Mark II/III models) You'll have to reuse the OEM sear spring with the new VQ target sear.

Now, you've changed the basic question when you add in the hammers. As you know a Mark III hammer and a Mark II hammer are slightly different. That is, the Mark III hammer is the same physical dimensions as a Mark II hammer except for the step cut in the right hand side for the magazine disconnector safety components. But if you already have a Mark II bushing in your pistol then you might want a VQ Mark II hammer in your pistol. However you don't need to change hammers to get the benefits of using a VQ sear. Just changing the sear will give you a very good trigger. In fact, if I laid two pistols ont the table, one with a VQ hammer and sear and the other with just a VQ sear, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two just by the trigger's feel.

And since you've identified your Hunter as a 22/45 Mark III model, then your original sear spring will be reused when you install the VQ sear in the pistol.
