Harrington and Richardson Sportsman Date of Manufacture

Post by emmett » Sun Nov 23, 2008 11:25 am

Looking for some info. A friend of mine came across a Harrington and Richardson, Sportsman, .22 pitstol. It has a 6" barrel, and is as new in the original box and seems to be unfired. The serial # is *******. I believe, since it has no prefix or suffix, it was made prior to 1940. Can anyone tell me the date of manufacture, and the approximate value? Again, appears to be unfired and as new in the box. Serial ******* Thanks

Sounds like you are correct on the 1940 date, I have one manufactured in 1952 and has the prefix N. Theer used to be a web site that had an H&R nad Iver Johnson expert but I do not know if it is still online.

I cannot find a censorship setting that would be disallowing your serial number. Why not try writing all the numbers in words? (i.e. six, one, five...)
