Recently the firing pin on my Ruger bound up. A piece of what looks like brass casing in the firing pin slot caused the problem. This resulted in a ding near the top of the edge of the entrance to the firing chamber. Needless to say it will no longer chamber a round. Is there any way this can be
repaired ?

yes, Brownells sells a chamber ironing tool. I have one and it works great.

Like Recumbent said, a chamber iron is the way to press that dent out. They sell for around $25.

Prior to the response regarding the Chamber Iron I had called Ruger customer service. The representative said that I could send the gun in and they'd take a look at it, but most guns they received in this condition weren't repairable. If this were the case Ruger would offer a "special" discounted price on a new gun. Has anyone had any experience with this offer from Ruger ? How much is the "special" discount ?

They will only offer you a discount on a new Mark III. The chamber iron method is a far better solution for your pistol. If you still weren't satisfied after pressing out the dent, then you could go with a replacement receiver like a Tactical Solutions, which comes in a Mark II configuration.

My Chamber Iron arrived in the mail yesterday. Today I used it.

SHAAZAM ! . . . . . it worked slicker 'n slick.

It looks like I'm back in business. I plan to go to the range tomorrow to test the results but I was able to hand cycle a full magazine load through the gun with out a problem.
