VQ Acurizer installation

I installed the VQ accurizer kit and everything worked well for a handful of rounds. Actually the tightest grouping I've ever had. Then the trigger quit working! No sweat I said. The bolt came back fine , so I went home to fix it. But....the mainspring will not open. Instead of beating it with the hammer I decided to take it to our local smith. What happened? Anybody know? Thanks in advance.

Is it a MKIII with the Clip-in fire only?

If you mean does it take a clip, yes. And yes it's a mk111.

If you mean by "trigger quit working" you pulled the trigger and the hammer didn't fall (no click), the probably cause is the pre-travel adjustment screw walked in to far. If that's the case, back off on the pretravel adjustment until the hammer falls.

The pre- and post-travel screws need a dab of loctite to hold them in position.

I kinda thought that was it. The part that really confuses me is why I couldn't get the mainspring to open.

Most likely because it is under hammer cocked tension.

As Greener said, your pretravel screw moved to the point that the trigger would not reset. If you used the VQ trigger with the externally adjustable pretravel screw then you could have backed off the pretravel screw and the hammer would have released. When you said, "the bolt came back fine," that told me that the hammer was cocked. The hammer has to be uncocked in order to remove the mainspring housing. If it is cocked the hammer strut is inside the housing and the mainspring housing will only open about 1/4".

Thanks guys, I'm learning. I'll go get it tomorrow and adjust the pre travel screw. Everything you have said is exactly the symptoms I've experienced. Again, thanks alot.

Once you get the pretravel adjusted where you want it, then add a drop of blue (#242) Locktite to the outside of the screw threads and let it wick in. Be sure to let the sealant cure for about 24 hours before using it. I like to tie back the trigger and set the pistol with the barrel facing up while the sealant cures, this aids in the Locktite's migrating to the threads.

I just finished dropping a VQ sear and trigger into my MKII 22/45. Add a big bright light to the equipment. These old eyes had me cussing because I couldn't see things like the sear spring and trigger pin spring. It's a sure sign of codgerdom when you need a big magnifying glass and additional lighting to find the little pieces parts. :lol:

I have on of those 6 inch magnifiers with a light on my workbench and it does help, if I did not have the blur in the middle of my right eye I would have some depth perception and thar would felp even more.. You eyes are still farly young GRASSHOPPER.

Did you ever have one of those days where your fingers all feel like thumbs, and wearing heavy gloves also. There are those days and then there are other days also.
