Buck Marks now have three (confusing)frame types. The slides, barrels, internals are the same for all,the difference being in the grip part of the frame. Grips are not interchangeable between the different frames. First is the Standard frame that has been used for years, next is the URX frame that is a not as wide front to back, and has one piece rubber grips that have finger grooves in the grips, they feel great and do position your hand well. Next is the UDX frame which has a curved back strap, not as wide front to back, and finger grooves built into the frame. Uses two piece grips, and has a great feel that reminds me of the older Browning Challenger. This my Field Plus Ultra Grip DX (UDX) Rosewood with 7.2" TacSol light weight barrel,Browning scope rail. It has a natural feel and points well. I suspect that it will feel better to more hand sizes than the old Standard frame. Also a nightmare for aftermarket grip makers

Good looking pistol. I like those grips. Have you done anything with the trigger?
Thanks for the explanation on the different models. As a casual observer, I didn't know the difference between URX and UDX. I have a Buck Mark Standard, but really haven't paid that much attention to the frame styles. The Standard grips feel good, the pistol points well and has allowed me to shoot pretty darned accurately with open sights.

Thanks, funny story on this pistol. My Brother was visiting and we were shooting my URX framed Buck Mark set up exactly like this one except it had a 30mm Ultra Dot. My Sister In Law who doesn't shoot at all was able to dance pop cans 25 yards away, and he was shooting tiny groups on the target

He said that he wanted me to acquire him a BM configured identically. So I turned the URX over to them and saw this UDX on GB this week. I have done the Heggis Flip on them, but this one came out of the box with a really fine trigger. As you are well aware these are great pistols for getting new shooters interested in our sport. They are so good iron sights, and great with a red dot for us with old eyes

Kaz, you are a bad influence. I've spent the last hour looking at Buck Mark grips and Tac Sol barrels.
When I decided I wanted a BM, the choice came down between the Target and Standard. Although the Target is, very probably, a better pistol, I could see the sights on the Standard better. I've enjoyed shooting the pistol, impressed with feel and accuracy. I'd recommend that anyone looking for a good .22 to look at Buck Marks.
Of the two, I have a slight preference for my Rugers. But, as a true addict, you just gotta have at least one Buck Mark.
Liked your story. Getting more folks interested in and enjoying shooting part and parcel of enjoying the sport.

It's always fun to see a new shooter's face when they actually hit something. Reactive targets are always better.

We here in Texas were blessed with a perfect day Sunday, not to hot and not much wind. We were shooting both my UDX frame and his URX from 30 yards at a hanging 3" steel circle offhand with scary accurate results with Federal Automatch(zero FTF) with the red dots and not so good when we both went(old eyes)to the irons. He loves his URX because the finger grooves put his grip the same every time. I prefer the UDX because I like the looks of the rosewood grips

His Grandson showed us how to ding the steel with the iron sights, and young eyes

Youth is wasted on the young. By the time you really figure out what and how to do it, you are over the hill.
I've been fighting to stay with iron sights, but have a feeling the red dot makers will be well supported in a short future.

Think about me eyes, they are a lot older than your, under the right conditions at 25 feet I can sometimes do all right with the irons if I do not use my scrip glasses. The sights are clear bur I am shooting at a fuzzy target.
By the time you understand what was so good about youth, it's gone and you do not know where it went so fast.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.
