The targets at my local gun club's weekly shoot are all 50' or less. The required accuracy is probably about a 1-3" radius, depending on distance. What sight in distance would be best? And while I'm at it, if the target picture is above the sight,as Ruger suggests, how much above? An inch or so at 50'? Would it be more or less at shorter distances?
If you're going to shoot at fifty feet then practice at fifty feet. The targets are smaller but the bullet hits are the same size at that distance. What that means is you're likely to get a higher value shot as the bullet hole can more easily cut the next higher scoring ring. I love shooting .45 cal bullets at 50 foot targets. Set your sights for your 50' aiming point and go from there.
