M41 on the way

Hello all;

Just cutting my teeth on BE shooting.
Quick question here.
Got a new M41 coming and wondered what kind of ammo seems to be the most accurate.

I know it depends on the gun, but wondered if there was a general consensus between all of you BE shooters.

Something accurate for practice(maybe I mean cheaper  ) and something for competition(no holds barred here).

Should I just buy a couple boxes of 10 or so of the good proven name brands and see what happens or is there only a hand full that I should even bother with and not waste my time and money on others ?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A good dependable and accurate round for the M-41 is CCI-SV. Once you get some good shooting in then you can experiment and find something that may be more accurate. Believe me the CCI-SV will be plenty accurate for Bullseye shooting. I use it all the time in local matches.

CONGRATS on your new 41!!! As per Bullseye's recommendation CCI-SV for certain. I also play with Federal Automatch which gives me a break from shooting up all my CCI-SV. Regards

CCI-Green Tag is another option. Green Tag is more expensive than CCI-SV. It is basically the same ammo as the CCI-SV (standard velocity) it has has higher tolerances and goes through closer quality control inspections.

M41 came in today, just in time for my birthday tomarrow.

Have picked up a bunch of CCI-SV's
And also picked up some Eley Pistol Match from Midway(they were on close out at a redused price).

Will try it out on Sunday and let you know how I like it.

Could not wait, ran through the gun show here in Phx in a half hour to pick up what I needed and headed for the indoor range.

All I can say about the M41 is WOW, what a pistol.
Acurate as hell, user(disassembly) friendly,(compared to the Rugers that I had in the past).

Went through 200 rds of CCI-SV without a hitch.

Settled in for 50ft and my best first time firing it was a 50/2X
My best with my Python is 50/3X at 50ft(and had to practice a bit with it for that).

I ordered a buffer from Buffer Tech for it today.
I have always installed one for all of my semi-auto firearms.
Do any of you have one in your M41 ?
Other than reducing battering, did it improve recoil or improve getting the sight picture back quicker during rapid fire ?

Well, I got to go and celebrate the B-day with the wife.

I've used buffers in my M-41s but I didn't buy them, I made my own. They do dampen the recoil of the pistol.

Federal Champion is really good target ammo. For relatively inexpensive and widely available ammo (Wally World), try the Remington Target. Comes in a 100rd plastic box and has a light blue label. This stuff shoots more accurate than anything out of my High Standard.

My 41 likes the Federal Gold Medal so I use the less expensive equivalent ~ Federal Target (714 on the end of the box). According to Federal, it is the exact same formula as Gold Medal. I don't know if they make the 714 any more cause I bought many 1,000's of rounds years ago and still have a lot left.
