Mark III 22/45 Accurizing Clarification

I have been through every post under the rimfire section but still confused about the use of the VQ MKII #VC2AK accurizing kit for the MKIII 22/45. It sounds like you can use this kit in the MKIII 22/45 for trigger, hammer and sear but question is about the magazine disconnect. If the MKII hammer is used will it remove the magazine disconnect and does any other parts, bushing or modifications have to be used with the MKII hammer in the MKIII 22/45?

Welcome to Guntalk-Online Razzle!
If you use a Mark II hammer with any Mark III pistol (22/45 or otherwise) you should have a Mark II hammer bushing in order to remove the magazine disconnector safety. If you don't have a Mark II bushing, another option is to perform a washer mod and use the hammer bushing tube from the Mark III system. I also have diagrams within the forum for a specialized hammer bushing that is cut with steps to eliminate the mag safety.
You cannot just use a Mark III hammer bushing tube with a Mark II hammer alone to remove the magazine safety as there are clearance and trigger disconnector issues that will arise.
The best commercial source for a Mark II hammer bushing is Clark Custom Inc. and their oversized hammer bushing and pin set.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. If I go with the MKII hammer for the MKIII 22/45 which bushing kit from Clarks? The CLK-515 or the CLK-517?

You want the Clark #517 for your 22/45 Mark III. You'll have to use the OEM hammer pivot pin with that kit. The head on the hammer pivot pin prevents frame damage from pin walking. No big deal since the bushing has a tighter tolerance on the pin hole, you'll get a better trigger feel even with the OEM pin.

I thought that I was getting it and now I am confused. Maybe someone needs to slap me. What is the difference between the two Clark bushing kits 515 and 517? If I am using the MKII hammer in a MKIII 22/45 why would I not use the 515 bushing kit but still use the OEM hammer pin? I want to eliminate the mag safety.

The Clark #517 kit is made for the 22/45 pistol. The pins are the difference between the two kits. The #517 sear pin has the groove cut in one side for locking it in place with the 22/45 long sear spring leg. The #515 kit doesn't have this grooved pin, as the regular Mark II/III doesn't need a grooved pin because the frame's grip panels hold the pins securely in place.
The hammers are the same between the 22/45 and the regular Mark style pistols. The difference is in the model version. The Mark III hammers have one side relieved for the magazine disconnector safety lever. The Mark II hammer do not have this cut out since there's no mag safety in that earlier model pistol. These hammers are interchangeable as long as you have the proper hammer bushing installed with them.
Since you desire to convert a 22/45 Mark III pistol over to a 22/45 Mark II configuration, you need a oversized pin and bushing set for the 22/45 model.
Hope this helps clear things up on the kits.
