It is fairly common to have some style pistols that you shoot better than others. Beretta's have a trigger system that not everyone can get used to or shoot accurately. Glocks can fall into the same category.

That's interesting, because I have thought the same thing. I have been looking into a 1911 style. Through the club I am in, I can get a :
Springfield Armory
Model PX9151LP .45 ACP Loaded Stainless $686

Any other suggestions on a 1911?
thanks, hm

Not bad shooting, Hakaman. Put a little blue loctite on your pretravel screw.
that will hold it in place.

Take a look at this for your beretta group. Looks like you may be dropping the muzzle during the shot. http://www.targetshooting.ca/docs/grp-analysis.pdf

the Springfield looks pretty good. I've liked the ones I've fired. I've been pleased with the Taurus 1911.

Low Centre Placement
Possible Causes
1. Poor concentration.
2. Poor follow through, lowering
gun before the shot is away.

3. Poor sight alignment

Greener, I think I am guilty of #'s 1 & 2. No.3 is not as likely. I know when I concentrate on the front sight, and "follow thru", things work out well.
I liked the website you alluded to, it was helpful
thanks, hm

I like that analysis target. On my "precision shooting" days I can reproduce each pattern.

I asked the same thing last year. Depends on what you want to do with it.

I recommend you scan over these thread. I was specifically wanting information about match 1911's -- even if you're not interested in a match 1911 they are still worth looking over for general information on 1911's.

Zilla,
basically, I want a good shooting, good looking 1911 to advance my shooting skills to a point where I can control a hg safely, accurately, and enjoyable. Although it must be of great personal reward, I do not think I want to get into serious competition. I want to be content with my limited skills. I used to be heavily into competition when I was younger in various sports, I feel I have settled down to where I can enjoy the artistic values of handgun ownership. Tearing the center of the target at 25 or 50 feet is good enough for me, along with helping others do the same. If I buy a 1911, I want it to facilitate my ambitions. I have a lot of respect for those who dedicate themselves to have the competitive edge, and excel in highly competitive arenas, that impresses me. I don't have that ambition in me. I hope I got my point across tactfully. http://www.christiangunowner.com/taurus1911_review.html
thank you, hman :)usa

Go with the Springfield or the Taurus, as a shooter you will be well satisfied. Remember the shooter will always out shoot the shooter.
I have 3 different model SA'a and have never had any problems other than the operator.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

I agree with Oldman. Though I prefer Springfield over Taurus. As far as which model you go with you have a few decisions to make there. Like what size do you want the pistol, full length guide right or JMB rod, what kind of grip safety, arched or flat mainspring housing, commander or spur hammer etc...

I like the SA's also, that is what my 3 are, although I have looked at and shot the Taurus and the Greener has one and says it works well also. Lets face it the only real thing that varies is the price and the name as the parts will all interchange and that design i approaching a100 years now. That man was quite a genius, not much to improve on a design that old with how many millions of pistols of all names made, eh?

I have been thinking about the Taurus PT1911. Some good reviews going on about it. They claim the reason it is less expensive then other 1911 manufacturers is that they do "all" machining, building, whatevering, in-house. SA, Kimber, while being great guns (at least that's what most say), do significant out-sourcing. I'll keep doing my homework though.

Sunny and 77 degrees just "north of detroit" :D :D :D

Yeah, 27 just about 70 miles farther North, you got you own private Sun or something?
PM Greener and get his opinion on the Taurus, he seems to like it. SA has their frames and some other parts made in Brazil.
When and if the weather gets warm drive up and meet me at my range it is near the Bridgeport exit on I-75. In fact the range is about a mile East of the highway. I got 3 of them you can shoot.

I love to come up and shoot with you OM. Keep in touch so when the weather gets nicer we can make it happen. You have 3 ranges??? wow! I can tell from what you write that you hate the drawn out michigan winters. I feel the same way. They say you appreciate summer more by virtue of enduring the winter, I say I have had enough winter so far this year, and will have zero problems appreciating the summer. If I NEVER see another stinking snow flake, all the better for me. "How long, how long do I have to wait"? So with a little imagination I convince my mind it is 77 and sunny. lol. I am really considering the Taurus right now. hmmmm, got to get more understanding though.

Hakaman 78 now, and sunny :)

You're living in a little world of your own, enjoy it.

When I was younger the winters did not seem that bad, either the winters got worse or I got smarter??????? :D :D :D :D :D :D

Just checked the greener family temperatures: 52 in Richmond, 29 in Kalamazoo, 29 in Haslett and 29 in Anchorage. Glad old greener is in warmer climes.

I've fired a couple of Springfields and liked them. My son's Mil-Spec was pretty good, but the stock trigger didn't match my Taurus. At the same price range, I think the Taurus is a better buy. Mine has been very reliable. It all comes down to which on you like.
