The VQ extractor seems to have cured the problem. I only ran 30 rounds through the gun, but all worked perfectly. Only shot a 270 though.....

There is no free ride, no one said it'd be easy

The VQ extractor won't make them go in the middle but it will prevent you from focusing on the gun's functions rather than the sights.
Glad it seems to have solved the problem for you.

I installed the Volquartsen extractor last week, I went through a couple hundred rounds today with no stovepiping at all. But boy Remington rimfire ammo SUCKS! Out of 550 rounds I'll bet I had 20-30 duds including one pull trigger actual pause with no action BANG! That could have been ugly had I been quicker to clear the dead round. Never once had an issue with Remington centerfire ammo or their weapons but I'm afraid I'll never buy their rimfire ammo again.
Trying Winchester now, but I'll probably go back to the old el cheapo Federal.

I must say I avoid Remmington rimfire ammo at all costs. I've found that they cause too many problems in Ruger 22 auto pistols.
