Me too, good thing you don't have to take the safety out too often, While on the subject of safeties and pins or balls. My SA 1911 Loaded, the other day I decided to put my Aimtech? mount on it for a red dot. This is the one that replaces the right hand grip and is held on by the grips scows and 2 screw that replace the hammer pivot pion and the pin that holds the mainspring housing in. Well you got to R&R the safety lever to do the hammer pin, and as this is not an every day type operation of course I forgot about the detent pin and shot it across the bench. Luckily I found it but on reassembly as I depressed it to seat the safety lever, of course it launched again. That was a few weeks ago and have not seen it since. So off tho the gun shop with pistol parts in a paper, actually did use a padded gun case. My favorite gunsmith and long time friend came up with a pin and spring for $2.00 and put it in for me and we went on to the range to sight it in. You are a 1911 expert what is your tip on this job? Sure is a oood shooter and much easier for this old man with old eyes to shoot,Bullseye wrote:To hold the detent ball into the safety I usually add a daub of grease to the detent recess hole.

You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

I use a tool shaped like this one for seating the thumb safety without launching the plunger tube spring.

Of course a squared ended popsicle stick, or tongue depresser, works just as good as this tool. Midway offers these for about $3.50. plunger spring tool

I have a blur in the central vision of my right eye due to some retinal damage caused by leaking blood vessels and it give my poor to no depth perception at close range and this does not help with the problem. Best for me to have someone else do it. The plunger spring he put in seemed to be crimped somewhat so that the pin can now not launch by itself.

I've been needing one for my Mark II for a long time. The OEM part is too large to accept an aftermarket trigger of any type I've found. No such problem with my MarkIII's. I will buy one and the put the VQ trigger in the MarkII.Bullseye wrote:I can think of a few folks over the years who needed a disconnector and couldn't get one. The last time anyone I knew found a commercial disconnector, was when Radar bought two to build up his from scratch Ruger Pistol. He bought the last two disconnectors that Numerich had in stock several years ago. He later sold the one he didn't use to someone else who needed one.

Thanks!
Yes. But, that is way beyond my ability given the tools I have on hand. Thanks for the info though!Bullseye wrote:When you say the disconnector's too large, do you mean the pivot pin that the trigger mounts on? Instead of buying a new disconnector you could just open up the trigger's disconnector pivot pin hole to a larger size.

Paladin
I'll be 55 YOA next week, so can barely remember seeing the program as a child, but due to my enjoying seeing Richard Boone in other programs, I looked for DVD's of the HGWT series on the net. I was able to get the first three seasons on DVD and love watching them. Today's programming should be so thought provoking and promoting of morality, chivalry etc., but sadly falls short. HGWT was truly a thinking man's western.
Sadly seasons four through six are not available on DVD. Perhaps because of the lawsuit filed by the guy who claimed to be the original Paladin, or maybe they were just lost, destroyed, or other. I would love to see them.
Maybe someone on this forum has some knowledge of their fate.

The tube, sure has gone down the tubes since then. Dish Network has a Western Channel where they run old TV series. Used to have my hero Chuck Connors in the Rifleman, now they are running Clint Walker in Cheyenne. There used to be a lot of good old Westerns that were good but they did kill alot of bad guys. How many did the Rifleman send to Boot Hill???? Remember, James Arness in Gunsmoke, Fess Parker in Daniel Boone, remember if you have a problem wire Paladin San Francisco.
