Looking at the comparison sheet that bullsye posted it doesnt seem there is anything wrong with the Mk III and its new features. Can anyone enlighten me before I go buy one.......I'm sure after break-in they become easier to get apart right??? And as a magazine release safety for a rimfire gun......sounds like a good idea........I'd hate for a mag to fall with the weight of the mag behind it to fire when it hit the ground. Is that it in a nutshell and older ruger fans just do not like change??? Please be honest and not biased....
Thanks
Chad
MkII or Mk III...

welcome to the forum...
MK2 -vs- MK3
I agree that the (six?) "features" of the MK3 do not interfere with the
firing of the bullet, so it becomes more 'personal'... perhaps available or $$
Mine are MK2s, so I speak with a prejudice
my $0.22 worth: if a MK2 is available that you like, get it.
warning: be aware that you are considering your FIRST Ruger...
others will follow.
as previously mentioned... I suffer from an advanced case of
"Rugertoid Marlinitis" and have several of each, perhaps evolving
to the terminal-phase as I begin to include 1911s
take care, let us know what happens.

Getting into 1911's just proves you are growing up and getting REAL GUNS.toyfj40 wrote:welcome to the forum...

Love to shoot all of my MarkII's, do not own any Mark III's but have no urge to either. The Rugers are really economical to shoot but shooting the 19111's in .45ACP, that is SHOOTING.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

There's not that much difference between the Mark III and Mark II. You can always deconfigure a Mark III back to the earlier generation if you choose. I definitely like the thumb magazine release. Some folks insist on having the magazines drop free and therefore remove the magazine disconnector safety. I have them disabled in my Mark III's but that's just to simplify the tear down by a few steps. Either way, you're getting one fine pistol. Good luck with the hunt.
