Browning Buck Mark ?s

I am looking at the browning buck mark with the 7" barrel in the lite version that is alum. with insert. Any ideas about this gun, will the barrel insert hold up like a regular barrel? Any help would be great.

The Buckmark is a fine pistol that has been a favorite with shooters for years, it's just not one of my favorites. The pistol feels nice in the hand and all, but I never really liked the slide, barrel mount, and controls of the Buckmark. My main complaint was the small gripping surface and high tension of the slide. It was particularly difficult to operate if there was a scope on the pistol. My opinion still hasn't changed, even after I opined loudly on some of the gun boards and Browning added wings to their slides to enhance the gripping surface. I know that many folks like the Buckmark, and I'm not knocking them, this is just my personal feelings on the pistol. If you love it, then great for you.

I will say if you've decided on the Buckmark, and you want the lightweight barreled version, you should not be concerned with the barrel sleeving. This sleeving technology has come a long way and is very reliable. If it is just the Browning barrel that you're concerned about, then you could buy the regular Buckmark pistol and invest in a TacSol Trail-Lite barrel. Tactical Solutions makes a lightweight barrel for the Buckmark, like they do for the Ruger, and it is constructed to their same high quality standards. You can look at them here TacSol

Thanks Bullseye I new I could count on you. I took your advise when I got my 1st MKIII 22/45 and then I got an MKII Target Slab and then a MKII 512 Bull But I saw this Buckmark and it is so light and sharp looking I can hardly keep myself from buying it. I think your advise is the best but it really is not free it ends up costing me money for all these guns. Thanks again.

The Stainless Target and Bullseye come in 7.25" barrels. The Buck Mark is easy to shoot accurately, has a good, crisp out of the box trigger and seems to be an excellent addition to a collection. I have a 5.5" Standard that I've been very pleased with.

I'm not as articulate as Bullseye, but, like him, I like my Rugers better than the Buck Mark. But, since I have permission to have more than one, the Buck Mark is a nice addition. Well, if I asked, I'm pretty sure I'd have permission.
