you might try bringing that improvised rest a little closer...

Among the Bulk-Packs... I find the LRN ( Fed#550, Fed#AM22)
to be just a tad more consistent than the HPt ...
but that might be the 3rd+4th cup of coffee making the difference...

"A little closer"? I assume you mean a shorter distance. At this range, 25 yards is the minimum distance for shooting supported.

I've always done better with the 40gr lrn SV ammo than the hp hv ammo. Keep shooting the HP because it's cheap and I don't worry about the groups. If I want tighter groups, I switch to SV. I started this because I noticed the very high rounds with the Fed and only the Fed value pack. For a couple bucks more I can get a brick of the Fed Champion, assuming Wallyworld hasn't bumped the price.

Glad you had a fun Saturday and no me. If you mention dirt and hand operated earth moving tools in the same breath, I get very nervous and usually have to leave the site rapidly.
Sounds like good enough shooting to me.

The yard fun started with removing two sycamores that should never have been planted. I then tried for landscaper quotes to clean the yard up and needed a defibrillator when I saw the prices. Sometime Saturday afternoon the prices didn't seem all that bad.

Met a bunch of my neighbors who stopped by to admire my handiwork and SWMBO's supervisory skills.

Rob, a couple of things, if you move the target closer be sure to cover it with some clean see through material to keep the powder burns off the paper.
As far as prices for landscaping, funny that they look so much different when you are on the operating end of a manually operated excavating tool, ie SHOVEL. Had to take a couple of big Blue Spruce put a few years ago, they really should have been taken out about 20 years ago before they got just too damn big. Luckily the tree trimmer is an old biker friend and does some work for me at the gun club and dumps his wood chips there for no charge and he cut me one helluva good price.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

uh... I was (mis)reading your post that the REST was at 25yards...
so, I suggested you bring the REST back closer to where you're shooting from...
