New 22/45 Mark III Disassembly Problem...

Post by kniwolf » Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:07 pm

First off, hi everyone! And thanks for all of the great threads here on the Mark III's.

I just picked up a new 22/45 Mark III today, and decided to bring it home and field strip it to give it a good cleaning. I was able to get the mainspring housing off with a little help from a mallet, and the bolt assembly came out as well, but I cannot remove the receiver to save my neck! The hammer is in the down or cocked position just as the maintenance page says (btw, thanks Bullseye for posting this!)...but its a no go. I have tapped it with a mallet, and it doesn't appear to budge at all. What am I missing?

Thanks!

...Well, nevermind. A few really hard whacks with the mallet is all that it needed...

You found out what it needed to get removed - a few hard whacks. Typically the first few times the receiver needs some firm coaxing to be removed.
