Rugers and Ammo

My usual ammo is CCI 40gr lrn SV (cardboard box) and Federal 36gr hp (Walmart Bulk). Walmart didn't have the Federal so I decided to shoot try some other ammo. I fired my MKII GC, MKIII Hunter and MKIII 22/45 two hand, unsupported at 15 yard targets. 10 rounds per target. My qualitative results were:

Federal Automatch (Bulk): Quieter than other ammo with a few light "pops" when fired. One stovepipe on the Hunter. No other load, fire, eject issues. Groups ranged from 3/4" to 1.5". Seemed to do better in the GC.

CCI SV (Plastic box): 1"-1/5" groups with the GC and 22/45. Up to 2" with the Hunter (shooter problem?). No firing issues.

CCI Minimag: Comparable to CCI SV. The Hunter came back in line.

CCI SV (cardboard box): 1"-2" groups. GC had the larger groups. One FTF.

Xpert22: The first round had a tendency to catch on the feed ramp even though I made sure it was tilted up in the mag. It did this in all three pistols. Groups were 1.5" to 3". One set of 10 rounds were not in the 1" circle when fired with the GC. My Buck Mark Standard and Glenfield Mod 60 do much better with Xpert22 than the CCI SV (cardboard box). The Ruger MK's will just barely tolerate it.

I may have to branch out and get a bit more adventuresome with my ammo selection.

Greener,

What is the number on the bottom CCI-SV of the cardboard box? (i.e. 0032)

0035

0032 is the number on the plastic box 1070 fps

I don't see 0035 on the CCI website. What I'm using looks like this:

The round from the cardboard box is on the right and the round from the plastic box is on the left. I believe this may be the same as either Federal 510 or Federal AM22.
