MKII vs MKIII factory trigger

I have a new MKIII Hunter that the trigger sometimes doesn't reset. But it will fire on the second pull.

So I took my Lyman digital trigger pull guage and did 5 pulls below is the average of 5 trigger pulls on different ruger pistols. All stock pistols no modifications of any kind.

MKIII
KM512 3lb 5 oz
KMKIII678H Hunter 3 lb 7 oz

KMKIII678H Hunter (mine) 4 lb 9 oz.

MKII
KMK10 3lb 6 oz
KMK678GC 3 lb 3 oz
MK4 3 lb 4 oz

Is the disconnector raising up properly or is it a little sticky?

I think it's free but will check it when I clean it tomorrow night. It's intermittent.

I removed the trigger and it only has the over travel screw no pre travel screw. The drilling and tapping for the over travel was really crude. It was not adjusted the screw was run all the way in so I left it that way. I have a marvel trigger on order.

There are three points to check on a disconnector lever. One is the trigger return plunger and spring. That little spring and plunger provide all the force for lifting the disconnector lever upwards, allowing the weapon to fire. Next is the pivot pin in the top of the trigger. Make sure that there is no binding on this pivot pin. Many after market triggers have the trigger pivot hole too small and that can cause binding on the disconnector lever. Lastly ensure that the hammer end of the disconnector is not getting caught up by the hammer pivot pin. If you've replaced the Mark III hammer bushing with a substitute to remove the magazine safety, then inspect to see that your surrogate is not interfering with the disconnector's operation. Sometimes people make the replacement bushing a little too small, or use washers too small, and they get inside of the squared off hole and prevent the disconnector from moving smoothly.

Finally, if all of those places are operating smoothly then remove the disconnector and clean thoroughly behind it. There can be some of the old shipping preservative back there and it is finally thickened up enough to inhibit smooth operation.

Every Rruger pistol I have ever take apart hass the over travel screw all the way in from the factory, they do not adjust them, and they really do not tell you to do it either. I have tapped all of my guns for the pre travel screw and adjusted both of them with VQ sears, but they are all MarkII 22/45's, and they all pull 2 # or slightly over.
